President’s Message
Dr. Carthika Luxmanan
Dear Members and Supporters,
I am deeply honored to have been given the opportunity to serve as the President of the Dunedin Tamil Society. My sincere gratitude goes out to each of you for your trust and support as I embark on this journey.
The Dunedin Tamil Society, a registered non-profit charitable organization, stands as a beacon for the promotion and preservation of Tamil culture and heritage in the wider Dunedin region. With a committee predominantly comprised of women, we are steadfast in our commitment to championing the rich heritage of our Tamil-speaking community. Our society is built upon the foundational pillars of Tamil language: Literature (Iyal), Music (Isai), and Drama (Nadagam), and we strive to create a vibrant and inclusive environment for exploring and sharing our culture, heritage, traditions, language, and history.
We take pride in offering a ‘home away from home’ for the Tamil community in Dunedin, providing support and opportunities that resonate with our members’ needs and aspirations. Additionally, our mission includes fostering collaboration with other Tamil Societies across New Zealand. Through various cultural and sports events, we aim to showcase our unique heritage while embracing the diverse traditions within the Tamil culture throughout the country.
I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to every community member and sponsor for their continuous support and encouragement. Your invaluable contributions are the cornerstone of our society’s growth and vibrancy.
Looking ahead, I encourage the active involvement of all our members in our array of upcoming events and initiatives.
Thank you for your unwavering support.
Warm regards,
Dr. Carthika Luxmanan
